The Rowans was a very special family home and a project I was privileged to work on over a number of years.
My clients were high-achieving entrepreneurs and business leaders, yet family and travel remained at the heart of their lives. They wanted their home to tell their story through interesting objects discovered on their travels, unusual antiques and beautifully crafted bespoke furniture.
Among the carefully sourced pieces was a magnificent oversized antique mirror, positioned at the entrance to their bar. Hector Finch wall lights complemented bespoke metal and bird’s-eye maple shelving, bringing warmth, character and refinement to the space.
As this was also a busy family home—with a much-loved dog—practicality mattered. Robust velvets and linens were chosen to provide durability without compromising the richness or elegance of the interiors.
My role was to sensitively translate the family’s experiences, personalities and aspirations into a cohesive home. All details thoughtfully layered, respecting the character of the property while remaining comfortable and suited to everyday family life.
The Rowans was purchased for £950,000 in 2012 and sold for £2.2 million in 2024—an increase of approximately 132%. While a property’s value is shaped by many factors, the result reflects the considerable care, thought and investment devoted to its transformation.
